Ejama Johnson

FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

I am Ejama Johnson, a dedicated psychotherapist and the passionate founder of S.E.E.D. A singular mission defines my journey: to empower individuals in their pursuit of  rehabilitation, ignite hope where it is needed most. Through innovative therapeutic approaches and community-driven support, we are not just restoring lives; we are fostering lasting change.

I am very goal-oriented person that has positioned myself with the necessary education to help those in need; I completed my undergraduate at the University of Houston- Downtown where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in Security Management, I went on to obtain a Master degree in criminal justice at Angelo State University. Wanting to further my education, I pursued and obtained a Master of Education degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition, to operating S.E.E.D., I am Licensed Childcare Administrator and Treatment Director for Residential Treatment Centers, Clinical Director, and owner of a successful psychotherapy group practice in Humble, TX, and volunteers throughout my community on service projects.

My education has not been the only source of knowledge. I have been able to gain invaluable experiences throughout my career working in the prison system, residential treatment centers, substance abuse centers, and The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD. There is a substantial number of individuals and their families in the Houston and surrounding areas who have had to experience or turn to at least one if not all these institutions for rehabilitation. With my own personal encounter with life’s unfortunate circumstances and understanding the importance of rehabilitation and the effects it has on an individual and their families.

Being inspired by my personal experience pertaining to helping those in need of rehabilitation and hope. Substance abuse, incarceration, and issues with mental health hit home for me as it relates to my biological parents, other family members, and past friends and associates. Being adopted at an early age as my biological mother and father suffered from substance abuse and were in and out of prison/jail. Although my adoptive parents did not allow me to directly experience their downfalls, I was aware and saw the effects on my family. In addition, I saw the critical need for family support, community support, hope, and rehabilitation. These are the very reasons that I am in non-profit work.

When I am not in the community working for my purpose, I enjoy my family. My spouse and I are busy being the best parents we can be to our two daughters. I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants and foods, live music, reading, cooking, watching crime shows, volunteering, educating, and preparing myself to embark on projects that will produce generational wealth, and empower our Black communities. So now that you know more about me join me as we embark on a transformative path together, where every step brings us closer to a brighter, more resilient future.
